Dear Praying Friends-
Thank you for being such effective prayer warriors. Last November we asked many to pray regarding our up and coming Christmas Eve service. As the day approached, we were excited to have every piece falling together...the worship music, the power point, and the many who were participating were all excited to proclaim Jesus as the Way in the Manger! Then came the weather!
On the day before Christmas, our weather turned warm, and windy. In fact, gusts were hitting over 60 mph and in some cases exceeded that amount. Huge pine trees were toppled by bursts of wind, roofing shingles were blown away, and this storm shut down our power several times. In fact, power was off for almost four hours. A prayer alert was given, and power came back on at 2 pm. The Christmas Eve Service was saved by the return of power, and we had almost 80 out to this wonderful time. (over half were from outside the regular BFA family!) Thanks to all who prayed.
Now Becky and I (along with around 20-30 other faithful servants of Jesus) are involved in a Youth Retreat called Winter Run 2016. (Feb 5-7) This Youth Conference is designed to reach the youth with the theme as “Youth- the greatest time!”....we have 7 differing sessions on the topics of 1 Tim. 4:12 “Let none despise the youth” ....but be an example of faith....etc. There will be a pool party, pizzas, and even the showing of a movie (Woodlawn) The purpose of this is to reach and stimulate revival among the believing youth, and new life among those who do not yet follow Jesus. There is so much need for prayer...for good weather for those that are travelling...for the ones who are coming that they will be awakened...for the speakers...that they will be full of the Holy Spirit...for the music team...that they will be able to do a good job and that the youth will see Jesus and not the praise band...for safety all along the way.....for the food committee and all the preparations. One more specific area is the travel arrangements for our principle Youth speaker. In sharing tonight, I discovered that the low discount air-fares were no longer available and we are trusting that God provides in a miraculous way. Would you join us in praying that God would bless this outreach and help in this very specific way? Thanks so much!
Since just after Christmas, two of our brothers from Shillington Community Church graduated and went home to be with Jesus. (This has happened in the past 4 weeks, and came as a surprise to each of us!) In each of the cases, these were men who loved the Lord, and were active in sharing their faith. Please pray for their families, that God's presence and comfort will be their portion during this time of grieving.
On a personal note, this last week I turned another year older (hopefully wiser...the jury is still out) and I was also informed that my knees are shot (bone on bone) and will need to be replaced sometime in the future. Please pray for Becky and I as we journey into our senior years. We also had the good news of adding one more grand child to the family (that is our 12th as I always include Rachel's foster child in that numbering)
“Remember the word to Your servant, upon which You have caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction; for Your word has given me life.” (Ps. 119:49,50)
