Iron Sharpens Iron involves three days of learning, strategizing, and fellowship with men and women from around the world. ISI is an annual church leadership development conference for sharpening one another's vision and skills for building the local church.
This year’s conference will be held May 25-28, 2017 at Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, Iowa. Our speakers include Dr. Tony Hart, Mr. Raju Kunjummen, Dr. Mark Stevenson, and Mr. Alex Strauch. The theme is “Training for Godliness” from 1 Timothy 4-6. "Train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come" (1 Tim. 4:7b-8). What are individual believers and local churches to do in the face of rampant false teaching and moral decline? Timothy, stationed in Ephesus, was struggling with this question, just as we are today. A major element of Paul’s answer in 1 Timothy 4–6 is that we must continue to give ourselves to the gospel—to “the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness” (1 Tim. 6:3). As we move forward this year in our study of 1 Timothy, we learn that life rooted in the gospel bears fruit in every way. We learn what gospel-centered godliness looks like in personal conduct, family life, church leadership, and even in attitudes toward money and possessions. We learn that pursing godliness is ultimately the best way to live. As Paul says in 1 Timothy 6:6, “there is great gain in godliness!”
There are new discounts this year for first-time registrants and church groups, as well as an option for viewing plenary sessions by live stream for those who cannot join in person.
